Enjoy Easter Holidays in Leeds

2016-04-01

Stuck for ideas this Easter? Need to find a good reason to get out of the house? Don’t feel like gorging yourself on an enormous traditional dinner? Or, are you away from home and looking for something fun to do?

Well there’s plenty on offer over the Easter period in Leeds!

Royal Armouries Museum

The Royal Armouries Museum is offering the opportunity to “enjoy the thrills and spills of authentic medieval jousting” between Friday 25th March and Monday 28th. In their 20th annual tournament, visitors can get behind their favourite teams while they demonstrate the skills and horsemanship required, before competing for either the Sword of Honour or the Queen’s Jubilee Trophy in jousting competitions and a mêlée. You’ll also be able to try your hand at traditional medieval activities yourself, such as crossbow shooting or armed combat.

Social Easter Egg Hunt

Want something a little more Easter themed? Why not get involved with the Social Easter Egg Hunt. Clues are posted to social media sites revealing insight into where the 30 hidden Easter eggs might be located throughout the city. If you aren’t able to participate, why not head over to Angelica Bar and Restaurant on Good Friday for their Thank F*zz it’s Friday offer and have a glass of Champagne or Prosecco to kick off the weekend with style?

Great Expectations at the West Yorkshire Playhouse

If the theatre is more your thing, why not see Great Expectations at the West Yorkshire Playhouse? Already in receipt of great reviews, this adaptation of the novel for the stage promised to delight its audience. The production takes place on a wooden revolve, and uses clever lighting to reflect location and time, so it’s well worth a look for English or Performing Arts students in the city too.

Harvey Nichols food and wine

Why not truly treat yourself to something special? Get tickets for a food and wine pairing extravaganza at Harvey Nichols. Tickets are available from leeds.reservations@harveynichols.com and diners will be treated to creamy Louis Roederer champagne as well as an indulgent 5 course meal and tips and tricks for pairing from Louis Roederer Sales Manager, Guy Cliffe.

Thackray Medical Museum

For a bit of family friendly science fun, head over to the Thackray Medical Museum? This impressive Victorian building houses nine interactive galleries where you can explore our medical history from the Victorian era to present day. Over the Easter holidays they’re also playing host the Revolting Body Lab where kids can get hands on making fake blood and snot and learn about how the body works.

Abbey House Museum

If you’re the nostalgic type, pop along to the Senior Section Spectacular at Abbey House Museum and immerse yourself in all things woman! The Girl Guides Senior Section was founded in Leeds 100 years ago and visitors are able to explore everything from the Channel Swimming Records to Wartime aid work that this remarkable group of women have been responsible for.

With plenty of activities on throughout the city, you don’t need to search for long for a great Easter weekend in Leeds.
